Sports for grades 5–8 through CPS SCORE!, and free enrichment classes.
Go Tigers! Students in grades 5–8 who register for a sport can represent Courtenay through CPS SCORE!, Chicago’s elementary interscholastic sports league. Courtenay is a Network 2 school.
Every student who registers can play, as long as enough students sign up to form a team. Practices are during the week, and games are on Saturdays at a host school with other schools from the network.
Grades 5–6 focus on fundamentals. Grades 7–8 compete toward playoffs and a city championship. Courtenay’s teams vary each year, so ask the school office for more details.

Cross country, boys soccer, and volleyball.

Basketball, wrestling (offered separately through Beat the Streets Chicago) and co-ed cheer.
In March 2025, Courtenay’s co-ed small cheer squad led by Coach Boyd won the regional championship.

Flag football, girls soccer, and track and field.

🤼 Wrestling: Beat the Streets Chicago
Wrestling is free and co-ed, and runs in February and March, between basketball season and spring break. Students may register at any of the 20-plus practice sites around the city. CPS buses wrestlers from their practice site to the Saturday tournaments and back.

Courtenay also offers free enrichment classes after school.
